With a career spanning over two decades, Isabella brings a distinct editorial sensibility and a refined, effortless beauty to everything she touches — qualities that shine just as brightly in her approach to motherhood.

Name: Isabella Schimid
DOB: 29 March 1969
Place of birth: Sydney, Australia
Occupation: Makeup Artist

Do you have a cherished piece of jewellery you own and why?
A necklace from my grandmother, made up of vintage Italian charms — some of which my dad used to wear. It's incredibly sentimental and connects me deeply to my family and heritage.

What was the last thing you bought and loved?
A Gucci handbag I found while in Tokyo. It was a special treat and something I’ll treasure for years.

Your earliest makeup memory?
Watching old films as a child and seeing how makeup could transform people — from young to old, from natural to glamorous. My grandmother worked in a small cinema in Italy, and I’d get to watch all the movies when we visited. That’s where the fascination began.

The beauty staple you’re never without?
Concealer. It’s the one item I rely on every day — it hides so many things and always makes me feel put together.

The last meal that truly impressed you?
The pasta at Hotel Mezzatorre in Ischia. It's this glamorous seaside retreat in Italy, designed by the same team behind Il Pellicano — completely unforgettable.

If you could only take one beauty item to a deserted island, what would it be?
Sunscreen, no question. I never go without it.

An item of clothing you recently added to your wardrobe?
A trench coat from Lee Mathews — beautifully made, timeless, and so versatile.

What’s always in your fridge?
Greek yoghurt — I eat it every day.

Who are your beauty inspirations?
Nerida Joy has been a mentor and huge inspiration — her knowledge of skin is incredible. I also admire Lucia Pieroni as a makeup artist. Her work is so inspiring.

What do you do when you need to feel inspired?
I watch films — especially period dramas or old classics. I also love travel shows and, of course, travelling itself. There’s nothing more creatively rejuvenating.

If you weren’t a makeup artist, what would you be?
A flight attendant. I’ve always loved the idea of travel and the romance of it.
