Verse Mother Alice Frawley: by Vivi & Fitzroy
Name: Alice Frawley @alicefrawley
DOB: 25 July 1986
Place of birth: Melbourne, Australia
Occupation: Student
What is your personal style signifier?
Jeans, a white tee and an oversized jacket. I’m currently going through a classic postpartum ‘personal style identity crisis’ but seem to always come back to this look as I slowly wean myself off leggings and oversized shirts.
What is your most cherished piece of jewellery and why?
My engagement ring, a very special piece designed by Miško Jewellery who also happens to be an old friend from high school. Hugo proposed on my birthday during covid in 2020. A couple of months later, I was pregnant with Vivi. It really signifies a big year of growth for us as a couple and family. Equally cherished is my Two Letters Heart 18-Karat Gold Verse necklace which now has both my babies initials on it. I don’t wear a lot of jewels but these two are worn every day!
What is the last thing you purchased and loved?
A pair of Isabel Marant Naori Leather Sandals I bought overseas last year. The perfect high / low summer sandal, they make every outfit look slightly cooler but still polished. Isabel Marant can do no wrong!
What is currently on your Wishlist?
Rachel Donath dining chairs. Slowly accumulating special, timeless pieces for the home.
Your earliest fashion memory?
Breton tee, black overall dress, knee high socks and a beret. She’s always wanted to be a French girlie (or maybe Cher from Clueless? Hard to say…)
The beauty staple you’re never without?
A hydrating lipstick or gloss!! You will find at least 1 variation in every bag / pram / car / bedside table / jacket / pant pocket.
What will you always find in your fridge?
Oat milk for smoothies, avocado for everything.
How do you stay healthy, physically and mentally? Any tips or advice?
I always start the day with a smoothie. You can get a good dose of nutrients in there; it fills you up and hopefully sets the (eating) tone for my day. Pilates is my exercise JAM. I always feel so good afterwards and love my Pilates community.
Since my late 20s, I’ve totally felt and seen the benefit of regular exercise for my mental health and general well-being. It’s a non-negotiable for me and such a big advocate for taking 30 minutes a day to move. I can’t wait to get back into it!
Any great discoveries recently? Cafe, restaurant, shop, online etc…
Coffee: Wolf in Paddington. Shout out to my local who has gotten me through the first 9 weeks mumming of 2 :/
Food: Marion Wine Bar, on Gertrude St in Melbourne. The best!!
Online: Lucy Williams Remotely newsletter. I love it, she shares all her homeware loves, renovation insights, shopping and reading delights.
Shop: Monti online. JUST discovered and obsessed with everything. Can’t afford any of it.
What object would you never part with?
Object(s) I wouldn’t part with would be my books. I love to buy them, but I hate getting rid of them. I would rather carry the additional 5kg in luggage than part with them. Not even Demi Moore’s autobiography. Hi, my name is Alice and I’m a book hoarder.
What are some of the challenges of being a mom and how do you juggle it all?
Parenting is a steep bloody learning curve and when number 2 comes, you’re like – woah, ok. This is SO much harder than we anticipated! Lots to navigate including your relationship, how we parent together / solo. Relinquishing control (tough one for me) and being ok with things not being 100% perfect.
Both our families live in Melbourne as well, so while we’re used to (and love) our independence we do miss out on a lot of the upside of having family close by. However, it has forced us to set up a solid infrastructure of support for our little family that allows us to still be able to have alone time and get at least 1 thing for ourselves each week.
